about me
I am a designer, mentor and creative director with a focus on spacial and interior design and how these disciplines can enhance our life experiences.
As founder of Helen Hughes Design I have created homes, hotels, restaurants and shops that are influenced by a diverse career, involving fashion, film, architecture and interiors and a strong belief in the power of good design.
Research and strategy are paramount to my work and each new project is seen as an opportunity to truly learn about a place, its history and people. Through investigation and planning design systems are created that include historic information, current positions and future foresights.
My designs have been recognised by numerous national and international awards and publications, recognisable not by a defined style but by dynamic spacial arrangements, rich materiality and imaginative story telling. I love to collaborate with architects, designers, artists and clients who share the same passion for design and its power and potential for change.

Shared Spaces
Communicating the story behind the design is key to a brands success in creating real emotional long term connections between their products or services and their customers.
I have worked with existing and new brands to create blueprints for overall design strategies that can be implemented, referred to and updated as the brands evolve and react to local and global influences.
Creating a system supports the brand ethos and ties the message together so it becomes visible in all aspects of a brands identity and interactions.

Deep diving into my clients lives, the property history and current condition along with the site, locality and their future aspirations I create comprehensive, individual pathways for design.
